We brought an African Night to life at a private event in Muscat with a one-of-a-kind immersive projection mapping experience. The seamless integration of technology and artistry created a surreal ambiance that captivated guests and made the evening unforgettable.
Projection Mapping
For this project, we explored a rich visual language inspired by African traditions and art forms. Saharan rock art and Aboriginal shield designs brought earthy, hand-drawn textures to life, while vibrant African prints and TingaTinga-inspired wildlife murals added bursts of color and character.
For a sense of opulence, bold and blingy styles were also introduced, adding a striking, grandiose feel.
The visuals were created with the rocky surface of the cliff in mind, utilizing its natural texture to amplify the impact of projection mapping. Designs inspired by Saharan rock art were chosen to complement the cliff's rugged surface, creating the effect of dynamic rock painting.
Super-sized depictions of African wildlife brought an element of surrealism, turning the space into a dreamlike spectacle. By reimagining ceremonial aesthetics with colorful abstractions, we transformed an elephant structure into a striking focal point for the projection experience.
Our three deliverables—a series of slow-moving loops, a VJ pack for the elephant mapping, and a showstopper audio-visual sequence—seamlessly fused these elements into a unified celebration of African culture. Each piece was designed to complement the others, showcasing the precision and artistry of advanced projection mapping.
Projection mapping onto the rocky cliff presented unique challenges due to its uneven surface and natural textures. The irregular contours required meticulous calibration to ensure the visuals aligned seamlessly across the jagged terrain. Balancing light intensity and adapting designs to enhance the natural features of the cliff made the process both technically demanding and creatively rewarding.
