Created in collaboration with Antariksha Studio for the Amazon Web Services (AWS) AI Conclave, this performance is a symphony of Human-AI artistic collaboration featuring the Bharatanatyam dance legend Jayalakshmi Eshwar. Through this transmedia performance, we reimagine how performance arts, traditional dance and AI enabled technology can evolve together.
Live Performance
We developed a real-time AI pipeline that responded to the dancer’s movements, generating a live digital avatar that shifted across different conceptual landscapes, drawing from Indian history, data, and computation. Different prompts explored different AI-driven interpretations of the dancer, embodying eternal flow of knowledge in eras of human advancement.
Dancer in a sea of data, transforming gestures into evolving digital patterns.
Dancer as historical knowledge visualized the transmission of wisdom through abstract particles and ancient scripts. Dancer as Aryabhata, choreographed celestial movements inspired by mathematical astronomy.
Dancer as Panini, intertwined Bharatanatyam’s rhythm with linguistic structures, turning Sanskrit grammar into motion.
Dancer as ASCII, translated classical dance into pure computational form.
Prompts like these allowed us to explore how history and AI can merge in meaningful ways, treating AI not just as a tool, but as a bridge between ancient knowledge and future intelligence.
At its core, Fusion of Epochs is an experiment in Human-AI symbiosis, where the lines between performer and algorithm, past and future, dissolve into something entirely new. The performance was set to an electroclassical score by Sri Rama Murthy aka Murthovic, with Gopi on vocals and Som on Sarod, blending traditional melodies with electronic soundscapes to mirror the fusion of Bharatanatyam and AI.
