We were brought on-board to build and consult for interactive installations for an Experience Centre at Malabar Gold’s flagship store at Kozhikode in collaboration with Guruji Art Studio & Studio Blink.
The aim was to create experiences that engage the customers at the store who lie across all age groups. The permanent installations have a healthy mix of being informative, playful and visually appealing to add to the ambience of the retail space, and bring out the story of the brand.
Interactive Installation
Projection Mapping
Technical Setup -
To achieve the final finish of a wall with projection that is touch and motion sensitive of the users, two ultra short throw projectors were used to eliminate the occurrence of shadows when users are interacting with the installations.
Making the projection on a wall interactive by coupling it with a Lidar and a motion sensing camera that enabled us to create accurate touchpoints and making the entire projection interactive to the user's gestures and movements.
A protruding stylised map of India was mapped with touchpoints created for users to explore the bridal jewellery Malabar has to offer across the different regions and cultures of India. A layer of sparkling particles in the brand’s primary colour made to react peoples hand movements to bring in an element of playfulness and brand aesthetic to the installation.
Displaying the journey of a diamond from the mines to the final product, on a 3d projection mapped table. Our role was to plan & programme the technical and interactive aspects of the projection installation where the user can choose about the mines, journey from mine to market or about ethical mining practices through an iPad.
